The Seat of the Teacher - January - June
The second half of our 200 Hour Yoga Teacher Training program is for any participant from Tract 1 who wants to continue on to gain teaching certification. This tract expands on the 1st, focusing on how to skillfully share yoga with reverence to diverse populations. There are no prerequisites for our program, nor do we require you to have been practicing yoga for a certain length of time. You do not need to be "good" at yoga poses to take the seat of the teacher. Our training is open to all who desire to learn. We will prepare you to embody the path and eloquently share it with others.
In Tract 2 we take special care of learning what it means to be a human in these bodies, with our minds, thoughts and emotions. Here you will benefit deeply from being trained by a Yoga Therapist. This allows you to gain a vast amount of understanding about our nervous systems, how they carry trauma and what they need to heal. You will get a comprehensive education on the human body and how to teach to all abilities. In Tract 2 we begin practice teaching and each month will work on cuiing yoga and slowly build our ability to skillfully teach a full class. In the weeks we are apart from our live sessions, you will have practice teaching to work on in our student portal. You will be encouraged to take live yoga classes with the studio and will receive a FREE Yoga membership at SHIFT during this time. ($500 value add!!!)
You will be exposed to multiple styles of yoga including flow, yin, hatha, chair, gentle, therapeutic and prenatal yoga. We will ensure you are skillfully prepared to teach to all populations and grasp how to make yoga truly accessible and joyous for all. You will learn how to hold a trauma informed space that provides agency and choice for all who will come into your care.
Most importantly you will be empowered with the knowledge, education, tools and skills to share trauma informed yoga with others as a complete path for self healing. You will learn how to infuse a yoga movement class with the deeper teachings and techniques explored in the Yoga Studies Course in Tract 1.
TRACT 2 | 2024 DATES
YOGA ASANA - Physical & Energetic Anatomy
We guide participants through a deep understanding of how the body works and train them on the intention of yoga poses. We take a deep look at not just the physical anatomy, but the energetic anatomy of the body we gain through our yogic lens . This will arm you to guide others to engage with the yoga poses in a way that will lead them into a deep state of embodiment in their lives.
THE 8 LIMBS OF YOGA
Yoga is so much more than a bunch of poses. It is a rich path designed to guide a practitioner on their journey to find deep union with the divinity in themselves, thus eliminating stress and suffering. Therefor, we believe a yoga class should incorporate more than just poses. Our program will skillfully prepare you to share the deeper teachings and the complete path with others.
All of us have experienced trauma - the past and present experiences that have become to overwhelming for our nervous system to successfully navigate. We believe yoga can provide us with tools to work with and even heal our past trauma. With inspired skill, we will teach you to create classes that are informed from this lens to ensure that further harm is not created and that folks might be able to find ease in their system.
ACCESSIBLE YOGA FOR ALL
Yoga is for ALL bodies, but we see all to often it isn't taught this way. Most yoga classes out there are teaching fitness driven classes that are very limiting for some and don't take into account the profound beauty of all bodies and their diverse abilities. We desire to make a SHIFT in the yoga community by teaching others to teach yoga in a more accessible way. Participants in our program will gain a vast skillset to create adaptable classes where ALL can come together and move in a way that nourishes them.
